MURRAY, ROBERT FULLER (eld. child of John Murray of Roxbury in Massachusets, unitarian minister, who _d._ 1886). _b._ Roxbury 26 Dec. 1863; taken to England 1869; lived at Kelso 1869–71, at York 1871, then at Canterbury; ed. at Ilminster and Crewkerne gr. schools; entered at univ. of St. Andrews 1881 with a scholarship won as an external student of Manchester New college; wrote verse in the University paper afterwards called College Echoes; assisted professor J. M. D. Meiklejohn of St. Andrews, in literary and academic work 1886–9, left St. Andrews May 1889; wrote leader-notes for the Scottish leader May 1889 to about 6 Aug. 1889; wrote pieces of verse in Longman’s Magazine, Punch, and St. James’s Gazette; his book The Scarlet Gown, verses by a St. Andrews man, was published by his friend A. M. Holden 1891. _d._ Laurel bank, Ilminster, Somerset 17 Jany.
