The Palace and Park by Phillips, Forbes, Latham, Owen, Scharf, and Shenton

[Born in Worcestershire, 1770. Accidentally killed, 1830. Aged 60.] A distinguished statesman, whose commercial views, early in the present century, were considerably in advance of those of the political party to which he was attached, and who strongly advocated the principle of the measures carried at a later period by Sir Robert Peel. He served under Pitt, and afterwards was President of the Board of Trade. He was accidentally killed by a train, at the opening of the Manchester and Liverpool Railway.
