74. HOSTILIANUS. _Roman Emperor_, A.D. 251 or 252.

[Date and place of birth unknown. Died A.D. 251 or 252.] Generally regarded as the second son of the Emperor Decius, whom he survived. Declared Cæsar in A.D. 249, and was afterwards adopted by Trebonianus Gallus as his colleague in the empire. Died either of poison or the plague. [From the marble in the Capitoline Museum at Rome.]
