[Date and place of birth unknown. Died at Interamna, in Italy, A.D. 253 or 254.] Son of the Emperor Gallus, with whom he reigned, being elected Augustus in A.D. 252. Little is known of his life or character. When Æmilianus was chosen Emperor, he went with Gallus to oppose him; but, before a battle could be fought, father and son were slain by their own troops. [From the marble in the Capitoline Museum at Rome.] 76*. MAGNUS DECENTIUS. _Roman Prince._ [Date and place of birth unknown. Died at Sens, in Gaul, A.D. 353.] A brother or cousin of the Emperor Flavius Magnentius. Nominated Cæsar, A.D. 351, he went into Gaul, and suffered defeat in defending that country against the Germans. He strangled himself upon hearing of the defeat and deposition of his brother by Constantius, who succeeded to the throne of Magnentius.
