40. _Grasshoppers_, ⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂. The similar word סלעם, which

only occurs in Lev. xi, 22, does not appear to be Semitic. It is a sufficiently familiar word in Egyptian to serve as a term in comparison, ‘as plentiful as grasshoppers.’
